Nightshade

I designed the CD for my brother’s classical guitar album Nightshade. This was definitely a fiddly job, with a booklet, jewel case inlay and CD label to create, but I’m pretty pleased with how it came out in the end.

In hindsight, and once the finished product was in my hand, Helvetica Neue was probably slightly too hairline a typeface to be easily legible across all the different printing contexts, despite looking perfectly crisp on screen. At the time I think I thought it was the height of elegance and sophistication and was definitely over-using it everywhere!
